In some of my earlier posts I described the three key tests for a compelling value proposition and how to construct one. The three tests are resonate, differentiate and substantiate. I have discussed our journey at NewzSocial to figure out our value proposition and how to sell our solution. We have made substantial progress on making our value proposition resonate (scale and unify your social voice) as well as differentiate (outbound social media campaign platform). Key in the equation is the ability to make clients believe that your solution can actually improve their business. This is … [Read more...]
Stop talking, get out… get a suit that fits.
This post is a bit of a divergence from my previous posts about selling and sales experiences here at NewzSocial. I was recently reminded of a sales call that changed my life and set me down the path of “solution” selling many years ago. I decided it might be fun to share this real life experience as a junior sales guy in my first sales job. It might also bring a smile to a few old sales dogs. I will describe the environment I was selling in and the types of prospecting activities I used to find leads. I will then describe a particular sales process and the result. The … [Read more...]

Entrepreneurship, counter-terrorism and ending child slavery
Last weekend, I attended the TIE Conference where over 4,000 people gathered to get an annual intravenous knowledge infusion about entrepreneurship. I was there because NewzSocial powered the social media large screen for the conference and amplified content about the conference through scores of social media ambassadors. I was impressed by how the organizers of this conference took a much broader view of entrepreneurship than just the stereotypical "starting a small business in a garage", and instead looked at the entrepreneurial mindset which is applicable across many broad domains. Two … [Read more...]
Day 2 of TiE Conference!
Saturday, 7 May 2016 – Hello there! I am a Singaporean student currently interning in a start-up. I attended a 2-day entrepreneurship conference, TiEcon 2016, and would like to share with everyone my experience and some things I learnt from the conference. The second day of TiE Conference offered 4 different tracks - Destination India, Entrepreneurship, TiE Youth and the fourth track covered 4 topics, namely Trending Technologies, Digital Marketing, Machine Learning and FinTech. For me, the most memorable session for the day was the sharing done by the President of SanDisk Co., … [Read more...]

One of the highlights at … [Read more...]

Social Selling Blog Series- Part 2
"The reality is that sellers and buyers alike live in a rapidly developing digital age over which they have no control, and having a strategy for the digital era has become an essential part of driving sales growth. Technology is changing how customers buy and inevitably that means how we sell needs to adapt to the new business landscape." - David Towey, Author of Principled Selling As discussed in my Part 1 of my mini-blog series on social selling, cold calling is an outdated method for those of you hoping to successfully migrate your C leads to B leads to A leads. As such, social … [Read more...]
Social Selling Blog Series- Part 1
“Social media has had a significant and disruptive impact on the entire buying and selling lifecycle.” – Theo Priestley, Technology Strategist and former Contributing Writer at Forbes I want to be clear that I have nothing against Alexander Graham Bell. He was a great inventor who is credited for creating one of the most important inventions in history- the telephone. With that being said, in the modern day sales world, using the telephone in the form of cold calling is no longer a viable option for those of you truly hoping to help migrate your C leads to B leads to A leads and … [Read more...]
